Rare 1888 Harrison & Morton Jugate Parade Cane Rare Variety of 1888 Harrison & Morton Jugate Parade
Rare Variety of 1888 Harrison & Morton Jugate Parade Cane. Although made before and after, the period of the 1880s-1890s was the "heyday" of political canes and walking sticks, with dozens of varieties produced, and many others handcrafted. They were particularly popular with the uniformed political marching units whose parades, often by torchlight, were campaign fixtures in that era.

The vast majority of manufactured styles featured only a single head at the top. Jugate versions are much more unusual, and this present example is a particularly rare one. The portraits are janus, and the names "Harrison" and "Morton" appear on the ends of shoulders on the profile side, rather than below each face. Great condition, and complete with what appears to be the original shaft. Overall length 34.5". The metal top is 1.75".
