Corner of Market & Seventh Streets 1846."</B></I> Offered here is an original first printing of this legendary map showing the region extending from the Mississippi to the Pacific coastline, and from the Rio Grande to southern Canada. This was the most popular map of the West up to that point and was very influential on other cartographers of the period as well as early emigrants to the area. Known as one of the the first maps to show Texas as a state, it was also the map that Brigham Young used in preparation for the Mormon westward migration in 1846. Lithographed and beautifully hand-colored on quality paper, linen-backed with separation at the original folds. Several ink and pencil notations appear to be contemporary with its publication. Included is a titled custom book-bound folder with marbled papers endpapers. A rare opportunity to own this important and desirable map. Lot:253
