March 4th, 1806-Dated Post Revolutionary War, Partially-Printed Document Signed, Lt. Col. Benjamin Shaw, Commanding the 3rd Regiment, Military Commission, Very Fine.
This rare 1806 dated Military Commission measures about 7” x 12" and is nicely Autographed by Lt. Col. Benjamin Shaw, Commanding the 3rd New Hampshire Regiment. He Appoints a Third Sgt to his Company of Artillery. It is well printed on laid period paper having some expected folds, some trivial scattered internal pinholes or splits and scattered tone, and all manuscript portions are easily readable. Commission dated 1806, and no doubt they both served a few years later in the War of 1812 against the British. Colonel Benjamin Shaw served with General George Washington, and he took his “Oath of Loyalty” at Valley Forge. This rare Printed Form is accompanied by additional copies of research. This very rare original Military Document form is the first of its early American design we have offered and is nice for display.
