Rare 100th anniversary model Thuer derringer .41 caliber rimfire, blue and nickel finish ivory grips, serial #8. Note the following features: No .41 caliber on frame, the frame behind the hammer is more rounded thannormally found. The hammer shows a distinctive knurling, the trigger shield is smaller, The number on the frame, the serial numbers are somewhat unique, and the interior shows punch marks, an unusual “8” on barrel. These characteristics are described and this derringer pictured in a article entitled “The Rare Ones – Colt Thuer Derringer 100th anniversary model” – Jack H. Goodyear for The Monthly Bugle, May 1981, where he discussesthis derringer and it is pictured and mentions that these last derringers were made by the Colt factory in 1914 commemorating the birth of Samuel Colt in 1814. Charles H. Coles of the Colt Museum had verified theColt factory produced 10 derringers and the accompanying commemorative medallion in 1914 were presumed to be matched in serial numbers 1-10.
