Ramah,NM - McKinley County - c1901 - Master Bros. Wool and Pelts Photograph :
A view of several passengers, workers, and drivers gathered near a stage coach with a stone building in the background. "Master Bros. Wool & Pelts" is engraved above the entrance. The cabinet card photograph measures 6 1/2 x 4 3/4", mounted on green cardstock. Overall measurement is 9 x 7" with mounting board. Contrast is medium to high with sharp focus. Worn areas are present on each corner except the upper right. Upper right corner of image is also torn. Several small smudges and pencil lines can be seen in sky over the building. No photographer listed. The image shows five people standing in front of the stage. Three women and two men, with one man in a uniform. Two drivers sit on top of the coach, two men stand on the back of the coach, and one man, possible a native-American, stands behind the coach. Purported to be the Gallup Stage photographed in Ramah, NM, but difficult to verify. However, the first permanent store in Ramah, 31 miles SE of Gallup, was built by the Master Brothers from England in 1901 (Ref: ggsc.wnmu.edu/mcf/museums/ramah).
