Featured in this lot is this beautiful, limited edition bronze sculpture of Chief Joseph (1840-1904) done by Ralph Roybal in 1985. Ralph Roybal (1955-) is an Albuquerque artist who devotes his talents to creating bronze sculptures of the American West. He worked in the Santa Fe Foundry and the Dell Weston Studio Foundry. Work at foundries gradually led to full-time sculpture work in 1985. This sculpture shows Chief Joseph's face sitting on a black and white marble base as he looks directly towards the viewer. He has feathers in his hair and is wearing two beaded necklaces. It is signed on the back reading, "Chief Joseph by Ralph Roybal / ©1985 4/30". This is a limited edition piece numbered 4 out of 30. It shows good condition overall with little to no wear present and no signs of damage is noted. It measures 6 3/4" L x 6 7/8" W x 14 5/8" H and weighs 17 pounds and 12 ounces.
