Available in this lot we have a forest landscape oil on canvas painting by Ralph Davidson Miller originating from the late 19th century. Ralph Davidson Miller (1858-1945) was an American artist located in California and would take trip to the deserts of Colorado, New Mexico, ad Arizona. He was know predominately for his still life and landscape paintings. Miller's art shows wonderful style with excellent attention to details and are highly sought after by collectors. This painting features a forested river scene showing a fresh water creek as it winds its way through a lush green forest and a rocky bank. This original piece shows wonderful color and heavy brush work. The piece is set into a gilt gold painted frame with embossed designs across the front and a art gallery tag in the back. Provenance: From the renowned Sundog Fine Art Bozeman, Montana collection and collected by Bruce VanLandingham. Bruce VanLandingham was a pillar in the American Indian collecting community and a respected expert. Along with being an avid collector Bruce also was the sole owner of Sundog Fine Art Gallery in Bozeman which was both part museum and gallery. The piece shows very good condition overall with some very minor wear on the frame. The frame measures 25" wide by 17" tall with the art measuring 17 1/2" wide by 9 1/2" tall.
