<B>Raleigh, NC</B></I> - $10 Original Fr. 413 <B>The State NB</B></I> Ch. # 1682<BR>If ever a First Charter had everything going for it, this one does. It is one of two notes known from this state capital institution that issued First Charter examples only before liquidating in 1888 at the expiration of its charter. It also bears the excessively rare Jeffries-Spinner Treasury signature combination, with this not only the only $10 example from North Carolina with these signatures but the sole reported $10 from any bank in the entire country. Fortunately for collectors, it is a most attractive specimen as well, being a nicely margined piece displaying great color and eye appeal for the grade. When we last offered this note six years ago, it sold to a major North Carolina collector at a then record price of $23,100 against a pre-sale estimate of $10,000-15,000.
