In beautiful condition, this wool rug has an unusual style. It measures 38 x 64” and is woven in a variety of colors—primarily black and gray on a natural ground with accents of tan and burgundy. Weaver: Lavonne Begay. The raised outline method of weavings is a special technique in which areas of the rug are filled with fine vertical pinstripes of subtle colors, resulting in raised, three-dimensional ridges outlining the edges of the primary design elements. Typical of the New Lands style of weaving from the Coal Mine Mesa area southeast of Tuba City. [www.rugtrader.com/styles/newlands.htm]. Purchased by consignor in 2003 from Russel Fouts’ Indian Room in Farmington, NM. Fairbanks Collection - HKA#65389
