Railway postal cards
Lot of over 100 Great Northern Railway and Northern Pacific Railway postal cards. All addressed to Steel Hindson, City (Helena). The Great Northern Railway ran from Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Seattle, Washington. The Great Northern's route was the northernmost transcontinental railroad route in the United States. It was completed on January 6, 1893, at Scenic, Washington. The Great Northern was the only privately funded, and successfully built, transcontinental railroad in United States history. The Northern Pacific Railway was a transcontinental railroad that operated across the northern tier of the western United States from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast. Ulysses S. Grant drove in the final "golden spike" in western Montana on Sept. 8, 1883. The railroad served a large area, including extensive trackage in the states of Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oregon, Washington and Wisconsin.1915-1919
