''Radio'' used onscreen in ''Captain Kangaroo.'' Cathedral-style prop radio was a character called ''Radio'' with its own regular segment on the show, in which it would engage in conversation with the Captain or with other usually inanimate objects. Crafted after the Atwater Kent brand radios, wooden prop features an actual metal switch on the right side of the body and a front panel of openwork carved wood, painted pink and backed with beige mesh. Hollow body includes just a few wires, with ample room to house a functional radio. Measures 16.5'' in height, 14'' across and 9.25'' deep. Black paperboard backing is partially detached, left knob is missing and body has scattered nicks and scratches, with paper residue adhered to the very top and chipping to finish, else very good.
