E.S. on the verso of a partly printed D.S. 1p. oblong small folio, Charleston, S.C., July 5, 1785, a summons against one Daniel Bourdeaux to appear to answer a lawsuit for 300 pounds. In full: ""I appear for the defendant Edward Rutledge 12th. Septr. 1785"". Slight chipping, a couple of soiled spots, otherwise very bright and in very good condition.
