INLAY DEPICTING AMERICAN BIG GAME W/ ZEISS SCOPE. Cal. 375 H&H Mag. S# 132-79788. Bbl. 24". Medium weight factory bbl. w/ warning & Ruger information on top. Cal. is inlayed in gold at left rear, surrounded by 2 3/4" triangles of semi relief shaded scroll. Factory quarter rib, front sight ramp & bbl. band are also fully engraved w/ matching scroll. Standard action continues this theme w/ lg. scroll over receiver ring. “RUGER NO. 1" is in gold on top. Sides have more scroll w/ in feather borders which surrounds shaped, silver inlayed panels engraved w/ heavy American game animals; a snarling grizzly bear is on left & quartering buffalo bull on right. Bottom of action & operating lever are also fully engraved. S# is in gold. Custom buttstock of nicely figured American walnut, measures 14" over reddish brown leather covered pad & features right hand swept shadow line cheekpiece, steel capped pistol grip w/ point pattern checkering & a sling eye on toeline. Matching full forend, has Alexander Henry type groove at front. Rifle is fitted w/ Zeiss “Diatal-C” 4X scope w/ duplex reticle in engraved steel Ruger rings. CONDITION: very fine overall, appears to have very little use since custom finishing, retaining nearly all lustrous blue on metal parts & oil finish on stocks w/ only a few of the tiniest handling marks. Sharp, shiny bore. Scope is very fine w/ minor marks on exterior from repositioning of rings; optically clear. PROVENANCE: Collection of Alan Bradley Shepherd. (20-4004/MGM). MODERN. $3,000-5,000.
