RUBY, JACK
(1911 - 1967) Dallas nightclub owner who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald following Oswald's assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Scarce, fine content partly-printed D.S. 2pp. tall 4to., Dallas, June ?, 1948, a carbon memorandum of agreement from the State of Texas between Ruby, Eva Grant, and J. B. Waddington for the lease of his nightclub, the Silver Spur! It covers, in part: ""...a certain lease...covering property located at 1717 S. Ervay...known as the New Silver Spur Club...agree[ing] to release...Jack Ruby from any and all liability and responsibility of any kind...for all past due rent..."". With a lengthy holograph emendation: ""In consideration of this settlement, first parties are to discharge all indebtedness including tax liens against the club with the exception of air-condition equipment, which will be a balance of $440.00. JR."" Boldly signed twice: ""Mrs. Eva Grant by Jack Ruby attorney in fact Jack Ruby"". Quite tattered at left edge, creased and lightly soiled, overall good.
