ROYAL DOULTON STONEWEAR JUG SHEFFIELD SILVER RIM
STONEWARE: Royal Doulton jug having a Sheffield Silver crimped rim finished in a graduated cream beige to brown tone with a handle. According to papers found with the vase, Paul Atterburg, now deceased, was official historian for Royal Doulton for many years and in 1980 visited Frederick and Nelson, Seattle, Washington, to present a lecture and explain what was then the most historical collection of Royal doulton ever displayed in an American department store. He reviewed this vase and we quote, ''The rim was put on at the time it was made, Standard themselves (sic), Sheffield (silver over copper) and dates from 1800-1810.'' There is no hallmark on either the vase or the silver plated ring, measures 7 5/8''. Note: no lid and some wear to top.
