TWO PIECE FULL MILITARY STOCKS. ROSS ROUNDEL/MARKINGS MKII 24H BATT CEF NO 746, ON RIGHT SIDE OF BUTT. RIFLE USED ON ROYAL NAVY BATTLE SHIP. HMS CANADA. BUILT FOR CHILI. USED BY BRITISH NAVY, SOLD BACK TO CHILI, NO DA98, WITH MATCHING BAYONET AND PROPER SCABBARD. SMOOTH STEEL BUTT PLATE, WITH BRASS TRAP. THREE SWIVELS. STAMPED FRONT BAND. METAL SHOWS HANDLING MARKS AND WEAR. STOCK SHOWS HANDLING MARKS, DINGS AND SCRATCHES. , ACTION: STRAIGHT PULL RIFLE , BARREL LENGTH: 30 1/2" , SERIAL # 448ED , CONDITION: 6/10 , CLASS: CANADIAN NON RESTRICTED CLASS, CONSIGNOR HAS DONE SOME RESEARCH, AND HAD THE FOLLOWING HISTORY TO ADD. Very nice early WWI issue Ross Mk III, dates 1914, with issue marks to 24th Batt’n CEF 746 (Victoria Rifles). After seeing action with the CEF this rifle was exchanged to the British. After being exchanged for SMLE’s, the British reissued the Rosses to the Royal Navy stamped with British ownership numbers, and they became part of the on board armoury of various warships. The battleship HMS Canada, was ordered by Chile prior to the start of WWI but not delivered. With the outbreak of war, the British appropriated the battleship. After the war, HMS Canada and several destroyers were sent to Chile, and their on board rifles and bayonets were included. The Chilean Navy renamed the battleship the Almirante Latorre, and stamped the Ross rifles with a DA Navy ownership number on the receiver. The bayonets were stamped to match the rifles. This rifle is early production, would undoubtedly have seen trench action with the 24th Battalion, then received Royal Navy stamps, and Chilean Navy stamps. IT has the matching bayonet and the bolt is also stamped to match, DA98.

Your credit card provided to us will be charged for your purchases on Dec 13th 2020 If we are shipping your products to you a second charge for shipping will occur once your product is ready to ship. A $25.00 non processing fee will be added to any credit cards that we can't process. Please ensure that we have the correct number, and expiry. Recurrent problem payers, may be banned from future sales.
We only receive the information given when you first sign up for the auction. If you update your credit card information you will need to call us at 1-800-694-2609 to give us the new information.
International buyers may be required to pay by "WIRE Transfer"

CANADA BIDDERS: All Firearms and Ammunition sales will require a valid P.A.L. to purchase. Firearm registration applies to all restricted and prohibited firearms purchased for Canadians except firearms classified as antique and non-restricted. All restricted and prohibited firearms will have their transfer started on sale day.
U.S. and INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS: Have sole responsibility for their purchases. You and or your FFL may be required to file paperwork with the ATF in order to be able to import an item. Please check with your FFL and/or ATF regarding import of specific items.
Please note that we do not ship AMMUNITION to US or international buyers.
US Buyers will be charged a $50.00 administrative fee on all Firearms sales (EXCLUDING LOTS 1000 ANTIQUES). This is to cover our cost of the required Canadian paperwork to export the items to you. There may be additional fees charged by the US Government, ATF, and your FFL or broker to be able to receive your item.
Storage fees of $5.00 per item per month will be charged on all items that we have not received paperwork for within 120 days of the sale. If you are unable to complete the required paperwork within 1 year your lots will be sold at the next auction. You will be charged a commission on the resale.
