ROOSEVELT, THEODORE
(1858 - 1919) Twenty-sixth President of the United States who started the Panama Canal, settled the Russo-Japanese War, broke up Standard Oil and encouraged conservation. Extraordinary S.P. 8 1/2"" x 11"" sepia, an unusually handsome full-length portrait of Roosevelt seated in a chair on his Sagamore Hill lawn, clad in a three-piece riding habit and gazing intently at the camera. Boldly inscribed in the blank mount beneath the image: ""Aug. 24th 1916...with all good wishes from Theodore Roosevelt"". The recipient's name has been whited out with no obvious detraction, else in near fine condition, exquisitely matted in black and set into a very ornate gilt frame. One of the most impressive Roosevelt photographs we've seen, very worthy of prominent display!
