<td width="100%">
Rookwood Art Pottery ewer with handle in Standard glaze, artist signed CAB for Constance A. Baker, who worked at Rookwood 1892-1904. Shape #495. Size C ie probably a new shape at the time.

Measures approx 5 1/4inches high.

Very wide round, flattened shape, cylindrical neck flaring to a scalloped, wide rim. Simple question mark handle. Ground colours of body range from golden light and honey yellow through earthy orange tones to beautiful rich browns. The ewer is superbly handpainted in enamels by Constance Baker. Poppies - in full bloom and in bud and delicate stems and foliage. Colours are reds and yellows to greens. Fine detail.

A number of impressed marks underneath include: Rookwood mark for 1892; Artist's initials CAB; W for white glaze; Shape $495; C - almost certainly the size letter, denoting middle size and most likely that the shape was new.

Condition is very good. No chips/cracks/restorations. Typical crazing for Rookwood pottery of this age.
