ROMANIAN SIDE FOLDING RIFLE WITH BAKELITE GRIP.
Cal. 7.62X39. S# F008166. Bbl.16". Beautiful Romanian side folder built on a NODAK SPUD stamped receiver. While the receiver is new, the parts kit can be traced to an interesting Romanian design w/ features common to the PM 63 & 86. One of the most striking is the laminated wooden forward curved vertical pistol grip handguard. This is a correct feature along w/ the push button actuated right side folding wire stock. It's interesting to note that the Bakelite pistol grip w/ its inverted checkering is specific to Romanian designs where others typically had their surface area intentionally rough. Trunnion markings appear to indicate the original rifle was mfg. for the Romanian civilian market given the absence of arsenal markings & SN prefix before 4 digit S#. Trunnion also stamped 1991. Barrel is terminated w/ slant muzzle break & appears to be blind pinned at 6:00. Protected post front sight. Gas block bayonet lug w/ shaved ears hosts onboard cleaning rod. Tangent rear sight marked to 1000m & includes normal Romanian setting "P" which is loosely translated to their CQB or "BATTLE" setting. Folding wire stock serrated at rear & utilizes rubber bumper to squelch undesirable noise while folded. Metal surfaces have been finished in a matching matte black. Right side controls w/ left side sling mounting attachment points. MAGS:1 metal 30 rd. CONDITION: exterior metal finish is consistent & complete w/ only a faint line between selector & receiver. Wood furniture has normal impressions found in rifles of this type. Bakelite pistol grip appears free of any structural damage but demonstrates normal chipping around points of contact w/ receiver & trigger guard. American made trigger. Stock locks tightly in both open & closed positions. Bright bore w/ strong rifling & fire control mechanism appears to function correctly when cycled by hand. (21-1441/JZ). MODERN. $600-900.
