ROMAN EMPIRE: Gordian III, 238-244 AD, AV imitative aureus (4.72g), "Rome", RIC-—, IMP CAES M ANT GORDIVS (sic) AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III right // FELICITAS AVGG, Felicitas standing, holding caduceus and cornucopia, somewhat wavy flan, VF, RR. Indian imitation, muling of a standard obverse design of Gordian III with a reverse, with long caduceus, almost exclusively used by Valerian I (253-260) for all metals, including the gold aureus.
