ROCKOLA OFFICIAL SWEEPSTAKES HORSE RACE GAME.
A great coin operated horse race game from the 1920-1930s that proved to be a huge economic success for the operator. The premise of the machine is to select 1 of 8 horses, deposit a nickel in the slot and activate the lever. As the 8 horses race around the fairgrounds the winner stops at the finish line. Accordingly, if the player had selected the winning horse, he is paid out in cash or merchandise depending upon the odds he received which is indicated by where the ball bearing stopped on the multitude of various odds. Thus he might have a 2 to 1 pay out, up to a 30 to 1 payout. Of course the anti cheat tell tale, still present, would not allow the player to change his odds and the window on the back door indicates what horse was played in the previous race. A small compact machine that was visually attractive, virtually maintenance free and produced large cash returns for the operator/merchant. A wooden case with a fancily embossed partial aluminum panel further add to the visual appeal of this machine. SIZE: 15" w x 13" d x 12" h. CONDITION: A nice overall older restoration, wooden back door is a replacement, still retaining original cardboard race track scene and finish to horses (roulette). 1-13237
