<B>ROBERT WOOD (1889-1979)</B></I><BR>Untitled Near Boerne, Texas<I>,</B></I> early 1930s<BR>Oil on canvas<BR>12 x 16 inches (30.5 x 40.6 cm)<BR>Signed lower right<BR><BR> This painting was purchased from Robert Wood in the early 1930s. It was originally signed "G. Day." In 1976, the owners, concerned that the "G. Day" pseudonym would not be recognized as a true Robert Wood painting, took it to the Sigoloff Gallery for Robert Wood to re-sign.<BR><BR>Wood covered the original "G. Day" signature lower left and re-signed the painting "Robert Wood." In addition, his daughter, Florence Wood, wrote the following about this painting:<BR><I><BR>August, 6th, 1976<BR><BR>I certify this 12 x 16 painting is an original and authentic oil (signed G. Day) was painted by my father Robert Wood circa 1930. It was painted close to Boerne Texas, in the foreground is the blooming cactus beautifully done, rocky area around, and more cactus, a young oak tree on the right, in the background are the beautiful Texas Hills. In the late 20s and early 30s my father signed quite a few of his paintings G.
