The Boston Museum of Fine Arts owns one of Lockwood's finest likenesses-his 1891 portrait of John La Farge, the American painter and stained glass artist with whom he trained and served as a longtime assistant. Born in Wilton, Connecticut, Lockwood studied in Paris following his initial tutelage under La Farge. Once he became an established painter, he became a member of the Society of American Artists (1898), of the Copley Society, Boston, and an associate of the National Academy of Design in New York. His most notable sitters were President Grover Cleveland and Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
