<p>Robert Wilson is a leader in experimental theater and has received such awards as the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement from
the Smithsonian Institution. The pair of chairs offered here were designed for his play "Hamletmachine," on which he collaborated with the late German playwright Heiner M,ller and which premiered at New York University in 1986. The skeletal chairs appear around a table on the sparse and dimly lit stage, casting shadows similar to their silhouettes. Another example of the "Hamletmachine" chair is in the collection of the Vitra Design Museum.
