Stroud regarding his recent article published in the Bulletin of the American Budgerigar Society which became the basis of this group's appeal to Congress for the repeal of a particular law involving the Public Health Service. In part: "...Fred Daw [the president of the Chicago Bird Club] sent me a comment made on my argument by the Editor of Canary World, Helen Keeler. She said that it was a masterly argument but that she thought that my name should be suppressed because it would not carry prestige - because I am a convict, though she did not say so. Well, convict or not, when they found themselves in the hole, there was no one else who could do such a good job of pulling them out...".
