ROBERT S. FOSTER

Currency:USD Category:Collectibles / Militaria Start Price:37.50 USD Estimated At:75.00 - 100.00 USD
ROBERT S. FOSTER
(1834 - ?) Union brigadier general who fought in the Valley, remembered for his desperate attacks on Fort Gregg at great cost to his command. Most unusual war-date A.E.S. on a 2 3/4" x 3 1/8" section cut from a document, "Hd. Qrs. 2nd Div. 10th A.C. In the field, Va. Respectfully forwarded, approved. R. S. Foster". What is most interesting, and something we have never encountered before on any corps document, is a receiving stamp in the shape of the 10th Corps badge centered in the endorsement with the printed date of receipt within. The verso bears an endorsement by Gen. Benjamin Butler with stamped signature. Fine.

Estimate: $75 - 100.
