(24 x 18.1 cm) 1952 PROVENANCE Private Collection, PENNSYLVANIA LITERATURE ROBERT FRANK: SOBRE VALENCIA 1950, Valencia, 1985, p. 20 (This image is illustrated as Frame no. 29 circled on contact sheet) Robert Frank left Switzerland in 1947 to live in the United States, but he traveled between Europe and America a number of times before taking up permanent residence in New York in 1953. This photograph was made during his second extended period in Europe, when he lived for a few months in Valencia, Spain, in 1952. The only known publication of this work is a circled frame on a contact sheet reproduced in the exhibition catalogue, ROBERT FRANK: SOBRE VALENCIA 1950. At the time of this writing, this print is believed to be unique.
