B & A King writes to business associate James T. Swerengen in St. Louis. ALS, 1p, 4to, Bassora [MO], Jan 26, 1838. Seeking inside information, he writes in part, “...<i>We have an idea of bidding for the inclosed Contract, which you will perceive is published by the agents of government at St. Louis, for that purpose...we conclude you can ascertain and inform us, with considerable certainty, what bids will be put in at and on what terms the contract can probably be obtained. If you can do so...we will endeavor to requite in transactions hereafter. We have abundance of suitable timber...we would like to get as much out of Uncle Sam as possible.</i>..” Boldly penned and signed. Newspaper notice tipped to left edge. 1. Auction Catalogue No. 19 is a Mail, Fax, Phone, Email and
Internet Live Bid Auction and is conducted under the laws of the State
of West Virginia by Gil Griggs, Licensee of Charleston, W. V. License
No. 002.
2. Absentee bid closing date is April 5th, 2002, 10:00 PM EST.
3. There is a 15% Buyer’s Premium charged on the final hammer price
of each lot. An additional 2½% Premium will be added to any lots
purchased through ebayliveauctions.com.
4. The Auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid for any
reason.
5. The Auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot for any
reason.
6. In the event of duplicate high bids, the earliest bid received
will be the winner.

14. Golden Guarantee: All material is returnable within seven day
providing that it comes back in the same condition. There is a
lifetime guarantee on authenticity to the original purchaser. The
item(s) must be returned with two letters denying it’s authenticity by
expert authenticators acceptable to both parties.
15. The placing of a bid shall constitute acceptance of the
preceding terms and conditions of sale.
