Rick McCollum was raised in Tahlequah, OK, capital of the Cherokee Nation, an area rich in western history.
He is an honors graduate from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, CA. Rick started his
art career as an illustrator. His work appeared in national and international magazines, books, and newspapers,
as well as in the products and services of leading American and foreign advertisers such as Mercedes Benz, General
Motors, Warner Brothers, Disney, and Reader's Digest to name a few. After a brief trip to Oklahoma, he decided to
follow a childhood dream, which was to paint the west that he knew and loved. McCollum is the 2001 C.M. Russell
Auction Ralph "Tuffy" Berg Award winner. In 2003, the Old West Museum Western Spirit Show awarded him Best
Oil Painting. His paintings have been in various shows and sales across the country. He is represented by The West
Lives On Gallery in Jackson Hole, WY, The Heritage Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ, and Gallerie Amsterdam in Carmel,
CA. Rick is a member of the Oil Painters of America and The Western Artists of America.
