ADS, signed at conclusion "Richard Stockton Atty for Plff" and twice more in the text, 1 1/2pp (single sheet), February term, 1761, legal folio, Hunterdon County Court of Common Pleas, New Jersey, legal brief. In part, "...William Worth was attached to answer unto Alexander McMechin in a Plea of Trespass...Richard Stockton his [McMechin] Attorney complains that whereas sd William...being indebted to the sd Alexander in Fifteen Pounds...Proclamation Money for Work & Labour by him the sd Alexander before the Time done & performed...on the same day Day & Year...at Trenton...& within the Jurisdiction...there faithfully promised that he the sd William would...fully pay the sd Fifteen Pounds...in Consideration that the sd Alexander had before that Time done & performed other Work & Labour...Nevertheless the sd William has several Promises...contriving and fraudulently...to deceive and defraud..." Adds postscript, "...Alexander McMechin puts in his Place Richard Stockton his attorney against William Worth in a Plea of Trespass on the Case &c." Some horizontal fold tears.
