RICHARD J DALEY (1902-76) Longtime Mayor of Chicago (1956-76). As Chairman of the Cook County Democratic Party, he headed a powerful political machine that effectively dominated much of Chicago. Though efficient, Daley was often accused of unscrupulous practices, including "throwing" the Illinois vote to John F. Kennedy in 1960. Collection of 20 DsS, 1 page ea, March 1, 1952, folio, $1,000.00 school building bonds for "Township High School District Number 208." Boldly signed on verso by Daley, as Cook County Clerk. Hole cancellations, not affecting the signatures of Daley. Attractive bonds, nicely signed by the future "boss" of Chicago. VG. $300-400
