A.D. 2pp. legal folio, Marlborough, Mass., Aug. 1832, Abyah Pratt's statement to the Probate Court for Norfolk County regarding his Revolutionary War service in order to qualify for a pension. In part: "...He enlisted in the army of the State of Massachusetts in the year 1775...first of May and served in the Regiment of Colo Joseph Read...that he was stationed at Roxbury and Dorchester During the term of eight month[s]...enlisted...1st. January 1776 in the Same Regiment...continued in Dorchester until the spring following that after the Enemy left Boston We were marched to New York Continued in and near the City until the city was taken by the enemy that after we left the City We were at East Chester and on the New Jersey side of the North River and back to White Pains and from that to the Peekes Kill...". Later he reentered the service and served during Sullivan's expedition in 1778. Partial fold splits, light soiling, otherwise very good.
