REVOLUTIONARY WAR LARGE BORE KENTUCKY RIFLE.
Cal. 60. NSN. 61" Overall. Bbl. 46" oct. w/ brass dovetailed blade front sight & dovetailed iron notch rear sight, swamped at muzzle. Lock is marked “BEES” forward of flat unsupported serpentine cock. Brass mounted, wood patch box, sm. vacant oval silver thumbplate. According to collector’s notes, gun was loaned to Ft. Ligonier Museum for one year. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: 2 page letter from Joe Kindig to Walt O’Connor dated Nov. 22, 1963 talking about British Revolutionary War copies of military Kentucky rifles. Military style lg. bore Kentucky rifles are rare. CONDITION: very good overall, appears original flint, though touch hole was “refurbished” as collector’s notes state, touch hole was filled where wallowed & redrilled. Iron has dark mottled patina, brass has mixed light to medium mustard patinas. Stock is refinished w/ one visible glued repair on left side of forestock near muzzle & missing about a 4" sliver on same side. There is an old tacked repair around tang.
