REPRODUCTION INDIAN AGENT BEADED BELT A
REPRODUCTION INDIAN AGENT BEADED BELT AND HOLSTER RIG WITH KNIFE AND SHEATH. Revolver is a Manhattan Pocket Model. Cal 36. SN 3976. It has 4" oct bbl with brass frame and one-piece walnut grip. It has spurious "Bureau of Indian Affairs" markings over all pieces. Real Indian Agent marked items are usually marked, "Department of the Interior". Grip has patterns of brass tacks added on both sides. Knife is homemade, probably from a saw blade and is 9-3/4" long, dbl edged, 16" overall with a large elliptical hand guard and one piece oak handle. Accompanied by a homemade burlap lined beaded leather belt with rawhide holster and knife sheath. Also spuriously marked "BIA". It has a reproduction copper or bronze 2-pc belt buckle with eagle embossing on right side and a high-relief buffalo head on left other. There is "US" on either side of the buffalo head with "AGENT" above and "BIA" stamped below with other spurious markings around the rim. The beading is good and appears to have been from an old piece of beadwork using white heart beads in white, red, blue and yellow colors. It appears to be beaded on sinew. CONDITION: Revolver, poor, pitted gray finish, cracked grip, missing wedge. Mechanics are loose. Poor bore. Knife smooth gray finish, good handle. Belt, holster & sheath are very hard, apparently having been lacquered. Some losses of burlap lining and a few losses of beads. 4-57702 JR481
