This fine example of the famous Remington dog's head cane is marked on the ferrule "T.F. Thomas Patent Feb. 3,1858 Remington & Sons Ilion N.Y.". This is the large variety of the Remington's, a .32 caliber rifle cane The headand shaft of the cane are gutta percha with a total length of 36.5". Below the .5" nickel collar of the stick there is asmall, recently added 1/8" thick washer. In addition, there is slight damage on the shaft just above ferrule togutta-percha, else normal wear. Mechanism needs work, will not cock.(EST 4000- 6000)
