REGULATION MANUAL INSCRIBED TO UNION OFFICER: A great war-date manual ink inscribed to Union 1st....
REGULATION MANUAL INSCRIBED TO UNION OFFICER: A great war-date manual ink inscribed to Union 1st. Lieut. George A. Perley, Co. K, 36th Mass. Vol. The blue hardbound book is entitled: "Revised United States ARMY REGULATIONS of 1861", 594pp. 5 1/4" x 8 1/2", published by the War Department, Washington, 1863. A must have that contains all pertinent information which the U. S. government felt necessary for its officers that had been published up until June 25, 1863. Some of those regulations include the formation of troops during battle, what to do with captured prisoners, and among other thing, how to inventory a dead officer's belongings. Perley most certainly carried this book while commanding his men during the siege of Petersburg and the pursuit of Lee in 1865. Minor wear to the binding and spin with some damp stains and soiling affecting some pages, else very good. $300-500
