RAW Magazine and Extras Group (Raw Books, 1980-86
RAW Magazine and Extras Group (Raw Books, 1980-86) Condition: Average FN/VF. Billing itself as "The Graphix Magazine For Damned Intellectuals," RAW (in all upper case letters) grew out of Art Spiegelman's classes at the School for Visual Arts in New York City. Along with partner Francoise Mouly, Spiegelman produced one of the richest-looking publications ever to focus exclusively on Comics as Fine Art. This huge collection includes all eight oversized issues of RAW, each complete with inserts and extras (the only exception being the "Bubblegum Cards" by Mark Beyer in issue #1), including the Pulitzer Award-winning Maus in its original small-sized, serialized format. But that's not all -- this group includes several "one-shot" publications: Invasion of the Elvis Zombies and Jimbo by Gary Panter; X and How to Commit Suicide in South Africa by Sue Cole; and Jack Survives by Jerry Moriarty. In addition, there's a number of smaller mini-comics like Work and Turn, Every Day has its Dog and other RAW mailbooks; even order sheets advertising the RAW library. It's all here in one complete package, ready for some lucky bidder to "read themselves RAW!" These items are not listed in Overstreet.
