RARE ZACHARY TAYLOR CAMPAIGN MIRROR. A 68mm., two-piece pocket mirror in a metallic case with a great, bas-relief portrait of Taylor in civilian dress. We believe this to be similar to Sullivan/DeWitt #1848-44, but that unpictured piece is described as having a slightly different marking on the verso. This is also hallmarked by Brevete of Paris... but... appears to date from 1844. The condition is excellent; one small chip in mirror along edge. A tremendous rarity from the Mexican-American War.
