RARE WHITNEY MODEL 1861 "HUMPBACK" RIFLE-MUSKET.
.58 caliber, 39" round barrel, 3-groove rifling indicating ca.1863 production, walnut stock with stamped "8."
The Humpback saw a total production of about 200, many of which were issued to the 21st Connecticut Infantry.
Condition: Old, worn finish on stock, light corrosion and pitting, lacking sling ring on the trigger guard.
