This 8 inch bracelet resembles other Persian silver bracelets with hand done miniature paintings on shell. Each tile tells a part of an intriguing story of a clan leader and hunter, and the farmer?s plight when his area is plagued by scavengers. Although this delicate piece is unsigned, it is obvious from the vintage clasp that it dates to the 1930?s or may possibly be even earlier. Much of this type of jewelry was imported into the U.S. as early as the 1880?s by Armenian and Persian Jewish emigrants who were Oriental rug merchants. This is one of the reasons that the design and artwork is believed to have been oriental in nature. I have scanned each tiny tile at a resolution of 1200. The mother of pearl shell reflects and I have lightened the pics so that you can clearly see the story unfold. The colors are vibrant and stunning. The clasp closure on this magnificent example of primitive artwork is secure and intact. I might add that this piece may be signed, but it is difficult to determine under the natural patina of the silver. I will leave the cleaning of such an outstanding piece to the new owner.
