RARE SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1866 CADET RIFLE.
.50 caliber, breechblock with eagle and 1866, lock plate dated 1864, 32" round barrel, nickel-plated for use by the color guard, walnut stock.

The Model 1866 Cadet is a scaled-down version of the second Allin trapdoor rifle, and delivered to the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1867 and 1868. Total production of this rifle was only 424.


Condition: Stock with thin overvarnish, most of the nickel plating remains.
