A TRULY UNIQUE, ONE-OF-A-KIND MARLIN LEVER ACTION RIFLE! MODEL 1892 .32 CENTER FIRE CALIBER WITH SPECIAL LENGTH 32 INCH ROUND BARREL, #428480, MADE c.1910. This model was ONLY OFFERED IN BARREL LENGTHS OF 24", 26", AND 28" with the 24” length considered standard. Unquestionably this extremely long and unusual barrel was a one-of-a-kind rifle made on very special order. No other examples of this model are known with this barrel length. This exact rifle is pictured in the standard reference book Marlin Firearms by William S. Brophy and identified by serial number (The complete chapter on the Model 1892 which shows this rifle pictured and identified has been copied and will be supplied with this rifle). The .32 caliber Model 1892 was factory equipped with a rim fire firing pin, but was provided with an additional firing pin for .32 Center Fire. So, the rifle could be fired with .32 Short and long RF and .32 Short and Long Center Fire ammunition. This rifle has both condition and rarity! The receiver retains most of the
original blue that is mixing a little plum with age and shows minor thinning/age. The upper tang retains all the correct M-92 markings. The barrel and mag tube also show fine lightly aged blue and very importantly have all the correct Marlin markings on the barrel top. It has the typical buckhorn rear sight and Rocky Mountain blade front sight. The stock and forearm are excellent with tight wood to metal fit. The sling swivels appear original and are mentioned in the caption on this rifle in Brophy's book. The rear swivel has an inletted base in the stock and the front swivel is correctly mounted in the
forend cap. The upper tang has the correct Model '92 marking and the barrel also has the normal marking for this model. The bore is bright and excellent and the action is tight. With a strong safety half-cock on the hammer. Marlin’s M-’92 was offered in .22 Rim Fire and .32 Rim Fire and Center Fire calibers. It was made from 1895-1916 and found great favor among target shooters and small game hunters. A rare opportunity to own such an unusual and unique Marlin! The finest and most complete Marlin collections in private hands or museums will not have a Model ‘92 with a 32” barrel!
The significance of this rifle cannot be underestimated as this is a singular example known to collectors only through the photograph of it in the Marlin Firearms book! For the Marlin collector or Lever Action Rifle enthusiast, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The rifle weighs 6lbs 12oz. Serial Number: 428482. This firearm qualifies as a Curio & Relic firearm, and requires FFL Transfer or NICS Background Check.
