RARE JAMES POLK CAMPAIGN RIBBON. Unlisted 1844 Polk Campaign Ribbon. With many of the same design elements found in Sullivan/Fischer #JP-17a, this ribbon, 3.75 x 6.5" overall, combines coat-tail names (Francis Shunk, a Democrat, won the Governor's office in Pennsylvania) with the classic "O.K." lettering in "Polk." Several pulls and small areas of loss discernible when held to light, even toning and light water stains, still quite a nice presentation for a 150 year old silk political!
