RARE HORACE GREELEY CLUB PIN. Lot of 2. Greeley Shield with copy cdv. A significant -- and quite rare -- political. The solid shield, original pin attached, includes a bas-relief logo with the "sage of Chappaqua's" famous hat. Horace Greeley (1811-72), 1872 Democratic Presidential candidate and founder of the New York Tribune, was a thorn in the side of Lincoln throughout the war, often accused of supporting Copperhead sympathies. Together with a fine copy carte-de-visite portrait on a titled mount. Some wear, some original gilt remains.
