SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. Cal. 7.65mm. S# 153471. Bbl. 3 3/4". Model 1907 semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Savage under contract for the French military during World War I, this example falling within the appropriate 136000-167000 S# range. Top of the slide is marked with Savage's mfg. and patent information, followed by the dual cal. designation "CAL. 32./ 7.65. M-M.". Left side of the frame is marked "SAVAGE". Metal components exhibit a blue finish overall, save for on the trigger, which is case color hardened, as well as the bbl., which is polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Savage checkered black hard rubber grips. Fixed half-moon blade front sight, with fixed U-notch rear sight. Additional features include a loaded chamber indicator, as well as a provision for a lanyard loop on the heel of the frame. MAGS: 1 10-rd. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to gray patina, areas of mild pitting (on the slide, near the muzzle), as well as light to mild surface oxidation overall. Trigger retains traces of its original case color hardened finish. Fair bore, exhibiting consistent mild to moderate pitting, while retaining strong rifling throughout. Grips show smoothing and scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but otherwise remain sturdy and serviceable. (25-2539/MLW). CURIO. $300-400.
