RARE EARLY 18TH CENTURY BRASS LOCK & BARREL
FLINTLOCK HOLSTER PISTOL. Cal. 42. NSN. 12 1/2" Overall. Bbl. 6 3/4" 2 stage oct. to rnd. tapered brass w/ flared muzzle & rarely seen brass tang. The only iron on this pistol is the trigger, trigger plate, cock, frizzen, frizzen spring, lock screws & internal lock mechanism. This is a beautiful pre-Revolutionary War flintlock w/ rarely seen brass lock. Lockplate is finely engraved w/ hunting seen of dogs chasing deer. Stock has good color w/ moldings. CONDITION: very good overall, all original & matching w/ exception of replaced top jaw screw. Brass has medium mustard patina. Vertical crack in center of engraved & pierced sideplate. Cock, trigger assembly, frizzen & frizzen spring have dark uniform iron patina. Stock is well fit w/ minor chipping & one sm. hairline opposite lock, hand worn patina.
