Measures 12" tall by 12 1/2" in diameter. The base wood ring is marked 'C.S.'. Includes both drum heads. There is also a typed 8" by 10"letter with it that is on 'Hotel Hannock Pocatello Idaho' stationary. It is dated 'Dec 17 1941'. It reads 'Per our purchase agreement, here is your receipt and information on the Civil War drum you purchased from our family. It was given to my father in the teens when we lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina by a local old timer I recall was named Bobby. He had no family left and wanted to see it get preserved and not thrown away. The drum measures about 12 inches high and 12 1/2" across. The top and bottom are some type of preserved leather, the side appears to be one piece of bent wood. A metal repair was made on the top band to keep it from coming apart. The bottom band has the letter "CS' stamped into the wood. According to the guy who gave my dad the drum, it was found years after the war in a shed near the battlefield known as Hatcher's Run. The unit which was amongst those fighting there was the 47th Regiment North Carolina Volunteers. I hope this will suffice as I really don't remember much else about it. Dad never let us play with it which made it more fun when we did!. Sincerely, Jim Blevine, prop.'. Includes an envelope from the Hotel Hannock Pocatllo Idaho. Excellent for display.
