RARE AND UNUSUAL EARLY AMERICAN TIN BALANCE TOY.
Recently discovered in a New England attic, this most unusual form for a balance toy depicts a seesaw with a gentleman on one end and a lady with child on the other. Lead acorn weight on underside keeps toy in balance. Unusual base of toy is scalloped tin with a hooped center support and a stylized plank upon which figures are seated. Certainly an exceedingly rare and unknown example of an early American toy, likely from the 1870s-80s. To this date, only one other known example has surfaced. A rare opportunity to obtain an aesthetically pleasing early American tin toy. SIZE: 9-1/2" l. CONDITION: Toy appears to be complete and in as-found condition. Possible aged solder repair to lady's foot. The see-saw plank has some bends and warping. Overall paint is good with uniform wear and paint loss. 1-12936
