BOLT ACTION CARBINE. Cal. 7.92mm/8mm Mauser. S# 1009A . Bbl. 19 3/8". These light handy carbines were issued to the Czechoslovakian National Police. In 1935 approximately 10,000 of these carbines were produced in 2 batches: the E-35 w/ narrower rifling lands & the E-38 w/ wider lands. These carbines were the basis for the later German G.33 / 40. Markings are crisp & enhanced in white. Sm. ring Receiver marked on top w/ "rampant Czechoslovakian lion crest". Marked on left side w/ "E rampant lion & 35". Left receiver rail marked "CS.ZBROJOVKA AKC.SPOLV BRNE" "VZ.33". Non matching but correct VZ.33 bolt numbered "7025A" which has turned down bolt handle marked underneath w/ encircled "Z" & "P7". Bolt knob has been drilled to reduce weight. Tangent rear sight graduated to 1,000m. Inverted V front sight w/ unique milled sight guard. Short bayonet lug for special VZ33 bayonet. Approx. 10 7/8" cleaning rod is present. Tip is non threaded style. H Type milled upper band made to receive handguard tip. Retained by spring on right side. Narrow milled lower band w/ loop for side sling & equipped w/ bottom swivel. Band spring is on left side. Milled trigger guard has been re profiled to reduce weight. Walnut stock set. Handguard extends from receiver ring to upper band. Recoil bolt has disassembly recess. Flat type buttplate w/ pivoting trap. Rear sling swivel is pivoting type. Stock has steel disk marked "CETN &1009A". CONDITION: stock set has light wear & scattered handling marks over original finish. Metal has fading original blue turning gray w/ light wear & scattered handling marks. Very good shiny bore. PROVENANCE: Dr. Fred Novy Collection. (22-2084/RW). CURIO. $1,000-3,000.
