RARE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMPANY “K” 9th US CAVALRY

“BUFFALO SOLDIER” REMINGTON ARMY REVOLVER.
Cal. 44. S# 113680. This is among the most honest surviving regimentally marked Buffalo soldier revolver extant. The gun has a great look from muzzle to butt w/ matching surface & patina. Original stamped “CO K / 9 CAV” unit markings found on both sides of frame. There are many fake & fraudulent Buffalo soldier stamped guns, this example however has impeccable markings like the Sharps from same fine collection.
The 9th US cavalry was one of the original 6 regiments in the US Army following the Civil War made up entirely of African-American troops. Identified arms from these units are rarely seen, especially as honest & untouched as this revolver. The accompanying holster is Indian War modified Civil War era w/ reinforced brass riveted belt loop replacing the original sewn loop.
Congressional Medal of Honor winners for the 9th US Cavalry 1870 & 1890 include Sergeant Emanuel Stance, Sergeant Thomas Boyne, Private John Denny, Corporal Clinton Greaves, Private Henry Johnson, Sergeant George Jordan, Sergeant Thomas Shaw, Sergeant Augustus Walley, Sergeant Moses Williams, Corporal William Wilson. CONDITION: very good overall, markings including unit markings all discernible. SNs matching other than cylinder which is close w/ last 4 digits “3881”. Mechanically fine, discernible rifling. Holster is matching very good, sound w/ typical scuffing & crazing, complete w/ broken stitching. PROVENANCE: Estate collection of western gentleman. (01-19488/JS). ANTIQUE. $6,000-8,000.
